"The wheels of the bus go round and round"
I scored a free bus ride back home from school which really doesn't happen ever in South Korea. The reason why I miraculously did I only sort of figured out as I was about to fall asleep on the bus. Again may I add.
I'm not sure why but the "motion of the ocean" in this base the motion of the bus just gets to me. It's almost like my body remembers being rocked as a little child before bedtime. I just fall asleep so easily on buses and on the trains here. On Monday afternoon I took the bus back home and sat in the second row right at the back of the bus. It was cold and I was tired after a busy day with the kids at school. I pulled my legs up onto the seat next to me, laid back against the window and rested my head on my hoodie formed pillow. It wasn't long before I dozed off to dreamland.
Normally I can feel when the bus stops and I continuously open my eyes to see where we are heading but this time around that didn't happen. The sun shined right on me baking my cold body in the cold and just creating the absolute perfect air to sleep in. But obviously in doing so I also missed the point where I should get off and normally does. Being all crawled up and invisible to the bus driver I never got off. I woke up when I suddenly felt cold again. It's almost like walking on the street through the shadows cast by the surrounding buildings in the middle of winter on a nice sunny day.
I stood up and looked around and didn't have a clue where is bus currently is, so I took out google maps and pinpointed my location. I was just outside town, walking distance but still kind of far off track. I walked to the front of the bus and thought to myself " How am I going to get the attention of the bus driver who's currently sitting in a restaurant eating supper?" Maybe I should push the hooter, but then I'll have to start the bus and then maybe I'll get into trouble...
Mmm let's scream out of the window. There was nobody in sight. After a few minutes somebody left the back door of the kitchen and I screamed "Annyeonghaseyo".
Very confused the lady looked around to where this sound comes from. I screamed again "hello" and she looked at the bus. In hand gestures I told her to get the bus driver to come open up the bus for me. She laughed, ran inside and a few seconds later the bus driver came rushing out. Super embarrassed and very sorry he opened up the bus and invited me to supper. I would've joined but I had to go to the doctor and ended up walking back to town.
I'm still laughing at myself allowing myself to get locked into a bus.
