"Travelling changes people into storytellers"
So I have been quite quiet lately. Sorry about that. I just haven't been up to much to be honest. I'm trying to save as much money as possible. I'm on my way around the world homebound in 2 weeks. By this time in two week I'll be on the first plane. So now you are probably wondering what I'm about to do as I'm going to be officially unemployed again.Korea has been great to me. I have changed the way I see life and my age and certain other opinions I used to have and last night at dinner with a South African friend she confirmed this say " who are you?" Well I guess it's change for the better. Although I'm still pretty uncertain about where I'm heading career wise I think it's a natural process that will work out in time. I think coming to Korea and meeting so many people across the world really opened my eyes in that perspective that there is people double my age still not knowing what they want to do but at the end of the day if you can put food for yourself at least on the table you are OK.
I still have doubts about leaving Korea. Korea has been good. I've learned about a new culture. I made amazing friends. And financially I've been more than just secure. I didn't have to pay for accommodation, my bills were minimal and Korea's healthcare is amazing. For a first job and first time overseas I think it's been very close to heaven. I went overseas twice whilst here and had some well spent beach time.
I miss my culture and my braai (BBQ) and sokkie (Afrikaans dance) though. As well as my table mountain view.
So here is what I'm planning for the next year or should I rather say 3 months. The old me would've known what I'll be doing for the next year but the new me has NO idea. I have a few options but which path to follow is still unclear and does it really matter at the age of 25?
In two weeks I'm flying to China. I'll be traveling through Southeast Asia for the next 3 months. I'm so excited that I already packed my backpack. It's standing there in the corner calling my name waiting impatiently. Yes 3 months with only the things that's in my backpack. my clothes fill half of it. The other half is empty. Minimalistic much right?
I'll start in China and work my way down to Vietnam, down the beautiful coast of Vietnam and walk the wonders of Cambodia. Thereafter I will boat through floating markets and see bioluminescent beaches in Thailand, wash my hair in the waterfalls of Laos and eat the curries of Malaysia. Then hop on a plane enjoy a crocette in the Netherland and then back to South Africa to braai with my family and friends. Most of the journey will be spent in beautiful cities, sanctuaries and on beaches getting some colour and relaxing with a nice local drink. I'm also planning on eating only local street food and sleep in 5$ hostels. I'm traveling by train, taxi, bus and plane and most train rides will be overnight trains.
